Cinnamon Bread Pudding
By TINA V
We usually make our old stored bread into an ordinary bread pudding. So I just thought, why not make something out of my favorite ingredient . . . cinnamon. I made a little research about these two main ingredients . . . bread and cinnamon. So here’s what I’ve got.
Bread - - -
- It can already be considered as a staple food usually prepared by cooking flour dough, water, salt, yeast, milk, eggs, and spice mixed with other fruits or nuts for additional flavoring.
- It is one of the oldest food prepared since the Neolithic era.
- There are different kinds of bread such as - - -
a. White bread – It is mostly made of flour containing only the central core of the grain.
b. Brown bread – It is made with the central core of the grain and 10% bran with added caramel for coloring.
c. Whole Meal bread – it contains the whole of the wheat grain. It is also known as Whole Wheat Bread.
d. Wheat Germ bread - it is a white bread with an added wheat germ for flavoring
e. Rye bread – it is made with flour from rye grain of variable levels. It is higher in fiber than many common types of bread. It is often darker in color and stronger in flavor.
f. Canadian bread – it is known for heartier consistency due to high protein levels in Canadian flour.
Cinnamon - - -
- The name cinnamon comes from Greek kinnámōmon. The botanical name for the spice—Cinnamomum zeylanicum—is derived from Sri Lanka’s former name, Ceylon.
- A cinnamon bark is usually used as a spice, a condiment and flavoring ingredient.
- It is also used in the preparation of chocolate, wherein Mexico is known as the main importer of true cinnamon.
- It is also used in making desserts, bread and buns, apple pie, tea, hot cocoa, and candies.
- It is also used to treat diarrhea and other problems of digestive system.
- It is known to act like volatile oils and once said it can be a cure for colds.

Cinnamon Bread Pudding Recipe
Yield : 8 servings
Ingredients:
- 6 cups of bread (diced or cubes)
- 2 eggs
- Pinch of salt
- ¾ cups sugar
- 2 cups milk
- ¼ cup water
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Direction:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Combine bread, sugar and cinnamon. Lightly beat the eggs and add a pinch of salt. Add eggs to bread mixture then add milk and water. You can add ¼ cup sugar if you want it to be more sweeter. Use a ladle spoon to mix all ingredients well.
Place it in a baking dish and bake it for approximately 40 minutes to 50 minutes. You will know that it is already done when you insert a toothpick and it comes out clean. Serve warm.
You can serve this anytime of the day, from breakfast to dinner. If you want to serve it as a dessert, you can top it with whip cream and a dash of cinnamon sugar.
